Partitions and backing walls made with clay bricks in widths of between 3.5 cm and 12 cm are intended for use with conventional plaster or hydraulic binder based coatings. They are suitable for dwellings, offices, hospitals, schools, and other premises.

There are two main categories of partition wall bricks:

  • Plaster-set bricks
In thicknesses ranging from 3.5 cm to 7.5 cm, this type of brick is used for backing walls and partitions. They are so named because they are generally set in plaster.

  • Large clay tiles
Large clay tiles are used in the construction of light dry partition walls, backing walls and partitions.

Partition wall bricks with horizontal perforations must conform to the specifications laid down in French standard NF P 13-301; for vertically perforated bricks, the standard is XP P 13-305.
Their use is described in our French-language brochure entitled "Règles professionnelles pour l'exécution des cloisons en brique de terre cuite" and in manufacturers' technical recommendations.
